NATIONAL PEDIATRIC ACNE GUIDELINES INITIATIVE—FREE CME WEBINAR AVAILABLE NOW!
Acne is the most common skin condition affecting children and adolescents. Specific, up-to-date guidelines for the diagnosis and management of acne in pediatric patients are currently lacking. The majority of clinical trials to date for acne medications do not specifically examine safety and efficacy in patients younger than 12 years of age. Therefore, practitioners often rely on expert opinion in addition to available data. Recognizing the need to address the special issues regarding the diagnosis and treatment of acne in children of various ages, a panel of experts met to discuss these issues (Figure 1). The panel included the following dermatologists: Diane Thiboutot, MD (Co-Chair); Lawrence Eichenfield, MD (Co-Chair); Hilary Baldwin, MD; James Del Rosso, DO; Sheila Friedlander, MD; Andrew Krakowski, MD; Moise Levy, MD; Anne Lucky, MD; Anthony Mancini, MD; Seth Orlow, MD; Caroline Piggott, MD; Guy Webster, MD, PhD; Albert Yan, MD; and Andrea Zaenglein, MD.

To promote the pediatric acne treatment guidelines, a free CME webinar can be found on the AARS website titled, “Expert Recommendations for Treatment of Pediatric and Adolescent Acne” focusing on discussion moderated by Dr. Lawrence Eichenfield with panelists Drs. Anne Lucky and Anthony Mancini. This free CME symposium includes interactive panel discussions, slide presentations of clinical data and practice experience, summaries of meetings held to discuss consensus treatment guidelines for pediatric acne, and a post-meeting evaluation.
