Boni Elewski, MD, a professor and chair of dermatology at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, Alabama, discusses the characteristics and diagnosis of generalized pustular psoriasis (GPP). She notes that GPP is often characterized by large pustules on multiple body areas, often triggered by antibiotics, steroids, or infections. Currently, the only available treatment approved by the FDA is spesolimab (Spevigo), which has shown to be highly effective in specialized treatment for these flares, demonstrating rapid skin and pustular clearance.
